Innkeeper Lyn Maccarone Welcomes You To
The Historic Mariposa Hotel Inn!
I am Lyn Maccarone, owner and operator of this six-room historic hotel. I love this business,
and I thoroughly enjoy my guests who arrive from California, all over the US, and from many foreign countries.
A little bit of history: One day back in the 70's, when I was living in San Jose, I was visiting
my parents Maurice & Helen Brown in Mariposa. They lived in an apartment in the hotel. My mother and
I were discussing how the spaces were used in the building. At that time the hotel rooms were small
apartments for senior citizens. I said to my mother, "Mom, why don't you put the hotel into a darling little
historic hotel?" She answered, "Honey, you do that when I am gone". I had no clue at that time that that is what I would do.
My late husband Carmelo "Mac" Maccarone and I took on the project of renovating the hotel area in 1988,
including upgrading the rooms with private bathrooms and contemporary amenities. Our project took us three
years as we were do-it-yourselfers. Mac's hobby was woodworking, I did the painting, wallpapering and furnishings.
Mac made all the solid oak wood trims in his wood shop. Guests who work with wood recognize Mac's unique woodwork as special.
We opened our doors in 1991 and operated as a B&B until Mac passed away in 1997. We were the only
lodging facility in Mariposa that earned the three diamond award from AAA. Due to health reasons I closed the
B&B for a few years, and reopened in August 2007 as a hotel and not a B&B. We do serve a morning snack with coffee
and tea and fresh popped popcorn in the evening.
I look forward to you staying with us!
